Our staff reads over every letter and card that comes in for the sponsored children, and we are so encouraged by your prayer cards.
Even the handwriting is inspiring -- some prayers are written in a beautiful cursive while others are scrawled in the hands of children. There were so many sweet, diverse prayers that we had to select a few more to share with you.
We love how these sponsors pray over a situation their child has mentioned:
"We pray God will protect you each moment of your life. We are praying God comforts your heart while your dad is away and will bring him back to you soon. We pray God will give you his power and strength to endure at this time and you will be strong for your mother. God will do this for you when you talk to Jesus. We love you as our own child."
"I am praying for your father's income. I am praying for you not to worry. Jesus tells us (in Matthew 6:25-33) that our heavenly Father knows all our needs. He will take care of us. He has shown us by the way He takes care of the animals, fish, trees, and flowers. If we pray to Jesus first and obey His ways, He will bless us."
"We pray for you every night. I pray the Lord will bring you hope and happiness. You are a treasure to Him and to us! "Do not be preoccupied with evildoers. Do not envy those who do wicked things. They will quickly dry up like the grass and wither away. Trust the Lord and do good things. Live in the land, and practice being faithful! Be happy with the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37). We love you!"
Other sponsors also paraphrased Scripture:
"I am praying that the joy of the Lord would be your strength, that you would feel the Lord's presence, that you will walk with the Lord all the days of your life, that you and your family would not lack for anything and that you know the hope to which Jesus has called you. We love you!"
These prayers cover the child's life so well:
"I am praying for you. I am praying that as you grow in age, you learn more about the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am praying that you grow strong and wise and lead others to know the Savior. I am praying that you will live a life that is pleasing to him in everything you do. I am praying you enjoy your childhood, your parents, and your dreams."
"We pray for God's hand to rest on you and for you to be strong in your faith. May God lead you in your life in a true path to serve others. May you have the Holy Spirit power to live holy and bring glory to His wonderful name. Amen."
"I am praying for you and your family! I am praying that Jesus be your strength and joy and that He powerfully provides for all of your needs. I asked Him to help you in school and to be your friend. I asked Him to fill your heart with His love!"
What fruit do you hope to see from these prayers over your sponsored children?
Have you struggled to write out your prayers for your sponsored child? One sponsor reveals her hesitations, and what a project worker in Ethiopia said to change her mind.
Do you still have your postcard?
A few weeks ago we sent you a mailing with instructions on writing out a prayer for your sponsored child.
(By the way, if you sponsor a child in the Middle East, your special postcards are coming soon!)
The postcards are taking over our mailroom, and we love it! Have you sent your postcard in?
If not, take a look at some other sponsors' prayers for their sponsored children. It really can be this simple:
Hello my precious friend. I am praying for your family that God looks over you and protects you. As you are growing up, I pray your faith and knowledge of God also grows. I pray for God to bless your health also!
This is my prayer for you. I am believing that our heavenly Father will give you confidence in all you do and an assurance that God is always with you. Trust that He will walk along beside you each step of the way as you mature into beautiful young lady. Amen!
My prayer for you is that you will continue to grow in stature and wisdom, heeding God's voice and working in obedience. I pray you will see change in your family and friends as you tell them more about Jesus. Please tell me if you have any other prayer requests.
What a wonderful way to close -- be sure to let your child know that you want to continue praying for them and ask for their requests!
You can also write out the actual prayer:
Father in heaven, I come in the name of Jesus, that you would surround her with divine protection and always watch over her and her family. That you, Father, would keep on her to be a doctor to help other people be healed and well. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
P.S. Please send me more requests for me to add to my prayer list for you!
Lord, help him to trust in you in all things. Keep him and his family safe from harm. Bless him in his studies so he will grow into a mature man of God. Encourage his heart. Give him hope for a future -- a special future. Let him know you are near and show him how much you love him and see his heart. Let him know how special he is!
Jesus, I pray for my child and his family to know what you want them to be and do. I pray they make wise choices as they learn more of your Word. I pray that they will be filled with your glorious strength to keep going no matter what happens and always filled with the joy you give.
There are so many wonderful phrases on the postcards we've received so far. One sponsor is praying that Jesus' love to be "alive in your heart so you know how special you are to Him." That is our prayer for all of our children!
We will post more examples of prayer postcards as well as more stories about the power of prayer in your sponsored child's life. In the meantime, take a moment and write out your prayer and send it to us!
We are so glad you joined us in prayer on June 15. Did you know our international staff was praying with us, too? Here's what that looked like in two of our countries...
We hope this prayer guide will help you continually pray for your sponsored child's spiritual development. Please also pray for the staff who pour into the hearts of the children and the countries these children may eventually lead and change!

In addition to writing out a prayer for your sponsored child, we’d love for you to join us in prayer on June 15.
And like the prayer postcard you'll soon send back to us, this doesn’t have to be a complicated event.
At any time during your day on June 15, take a moment to pray. You can use the bookmark attached to the Hope Uplifted mailing as a guide. If you’d like something with a little more specific, we’ll post a prayer guide on Tuesday as well.
Many of our projects will be joining us in prayer. They will certainly pray for their country, as many regions continue to experience political unrest, economic turmoil, and a lack of strong moral leadership in all levels of government.
Our international staff and the children they serve will also pray for you. Your letters may also become a prayer guide for the faithful servants in our projects and the child who loves you. It is not uncommon for the children to pray continued blessings over you, that your work may prosper and that you will stay in good health.
We’d like to pray for you, too. Remember, you can send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and our headquarters staff will pray for your requests.
If you plan on joining us, please let us know by writing a comment below, or by joining our Facebook page.
We've started hearing from friends around the world, from the ministries and churches we partner with to those of you who live in the United States and abroad -- it's sure to be an awesome, encouraging day.
We’d love to hear where you'll be praying. Will you be praying with friends and fellow sponsors?
As you write out your postcard for your sponsored child, those prayers go straight to God's ears and heart. As we join together on June 15, our prayers will cover the globe, lifting up hope!
Are you as excited as we are?
